Not everyone loves pizza. This may come as a surprise to pizza lovers, but it's true. This doesn't mean that they can't get take-out Italian food. While many Italian restaurants primarily sell pizza, they also make lots of other delicious Italian dishes. So, the next time your looking at take-out menus, don't disregard the Italian restaurant just because you don't care for pizza. Here are some great meals you might want to order.

Penne A La Vodka

This is a really great pasta dish that many Italian restaurants offer. The penne is served in a cream sauce. The sauce is tomato based. It is lighter than marinara sauce and meat based ragus.  A clove of crushed garlic is simmered in olive oil. Prosciutto is then added to the oil. Crushed tomatoes are added to the garlic. Unlike many Italian sauces, there are no onions, basil, or oregano.

There are spices, however. Many recipes call for a tiny amount of nutmeg. After the tomatoes, garlic and spices have melded, the heavy cream is added. This is mixed into the sauce. The vodka is then added. The vodka is added towards the end because you don't want all of the alcohol to be evaporated.

Eggplant Rollatini

If you like eggplant parmigiana, then you'll love eggplant rollatini. Strips of eggplant are breaded and fried. They are then wrapped around a mixture of eggs, parsley, mozzarella, ricotta and Parmesan.  They are then laid in a baking dish. A tomato sauce is poured over the eggplant. This is all put into an oven and baked until the cheese has melted.

Lasagna

Everyone has had lasagna. Sometimes you feel like having lasagna, but don't want to make a whole batch. Even the lasagna that they sell in supermarkets are pretty big. Plus, the frozen stuff never tastes as good as the real thing you get at a restaurant. That's why ordering lasagna might be a great idea. You will get a single serving. You won't have to deal with days of leftovers.

Antipasto

This is often served as an appetizer in Italian restaurants, but it can also serve as a light dinner or brunch. It is perfect for people who want something cool, and are not in the mood for a big, hot meal.

You might liken it to a meat and cheese salad.  The ingredients include olives, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, provolone cheese, and a selection of cured meats such as salami. To learn more, contact a company like OJ's Steak & Pizza if you have other questions.
