When choosing the perfect place to hold your special event, you'll have plenty of venues from which to choose. Start by choosing the type of space you'd like to rent, such as a private room in your favorite restaurant, and go from there.

Hosting a special event in an eatery is convenient in that it takes care of two logistical concerns with one decision. Not only will you have a venue, but you'll also have a built-in menu as well. This may even save you more money than hiring an outside caterer to provide the food for you.

If you can't narrow down the type of restaurant you'd like to host your party in, consider what type of event it is. For example, a private dining room at a steakhouse is ideal for a fancier soiree, while a pizzeria is better for a kids' birthday celebration. You can also make the decision based on your favorite type of cuisine, such as Italian, Japanese, or Mexican.

If you decide to go with a steakhouse, you can make it work for any type of upscale event, including adults' birthday parties, family or corporate holiday celebrations, bridal or wedding showers, graduation or milestone anniversary soirees, and wedding receptions.

Here are some additional tips for holding your next special event in a steakhouse:

1. Book in Advance

Booking the steakhouse event space as far in advance as possible is especially important if the eatery is very popular or if the party is taking place during a busy time of year, such as the holiday season.

Depending on the size of your guest list, you can rent just a private dining room, a banquet room if offered, or the entire restaurant. If outdoor space is important to you, choose a steakhouse featuring balcony or patio seating as well.

2. Decide on a Menu

After booking the venue, work with the restaurant's event staff to create the perfect menu. If you're on a tight budget or just want to save money, go with a one-price prix fixe menu. With this option, guests will have a few different meal options from which to choose. Provide a vegetarian or gluten-free selection if any of your guests require it.

The alternative is allowing guests to order anything off of the regular menu, including drinks and alcoholic beverages. While this may cost more, party-goers will be able to choose their favorite meals.
